Well, this is great news in a Pyrrhic victory sorta way: Giants wide receiver Plaxico Burress isn’t sitting out training camp sessions because he wants more money (even though, you know, he does), but because he’s legitimately injured. No, really, the team doctor even confirms it. Burress continues to sit out of practice. [Head coach Tom] Coughlin said in an interview given to NBC yesterday that team physician Russ Warren confirmed he has a legitimate ankle injury and will sit out at least until the middle of this week. Translation: the Giants and Burress’ people have until the middle of next week to hammer out an extension. Otherwise, the ankle injury will, in all probability, flare up. As I’ve mentioned before, Burress’ absence is hardly a big deal, and ultimately it’ll get worked out; he played much of last season without practicing and it didn’t really affect his productivity. I don’t suspect anything will change this year.
Now if there was just a way to ensure that the Cowboys don’t buy a Super Bowl. (No worries, Justin Tuck’s on the job.)
