Jan. 2--According to a source, Dallas Cowboys wide receivers coach Ray Sherman will be asked to interview for the St. Louis Rams head coaching vacancy.
The Rams are expected to present paperwork to the Cowboys today to receive permission to speak with Sherman.
In the last two seasons with Dallas, Sherman has coached a receiving group that produced a 1,000-yard receiver -- Terrell Owens both seasons.
Sherman also has been an offensive coordinator with Minnesota and Pittsburgh.
Sherman is highly thought of in the Cowboys organization. Had offensive coordinator Jason Garrett left last season for a head coaching job, Sherman would have been moved to the coordinator's position.
Sherman becomes the second Cowboys coach contacted about a head coaching vacancy since the end of the regular season. Dallas granted the Detroit Lions permission to speak with Garrett about a job Monday.
