Dallas Cowboys Notes, Quotes 2009-03-06
--The Cowboys believed they solved some problems in the locker room with the departure of Terrell Owens.

However, there are many players who don't understand and who don't agree with the decision.

Count linebacker Bradie James as one who remains in Owens' corner.

"I don't understand," James said. "I'm just a player. But I don't understand. We all need to come together and talk about it and see how we feel. I just didn't think this would happen."

--TE Martellus Bennett said he will file an appeal with the NFLPA over the $22,000 fine he received from the Cowboys for conduct detrimental to the team. The Cowboys fined Bennett because of a profanity-laced rap video.

--QB Jon Kitna said he is not in Dallas to push Tony Romo. He is here to be the backup quarterback and support Romo in any way he can.

In Kitna's perfect world, he would never play because Romo would not get hurt.

But he does believe he can win games for the Cowboys if pressed into action.

"The ultimate thing is to never play a down," Kitna said. "I am ready to play and step in I have to play. But for me to play that means something bad has happened. I am here to help (Romo). They didn't bring me here to push him. They just want me to back him up."

--LB Keith Brooking said Wade Phillips was a big reason he signed with the Cowboys. Brooking had the two best seasons of his career under Phillips when he notched 139 and 144 tackles in 2002 and 2003. He is comfortable in the defense and sees himself as a perfect fit for what the Cowboys want to do.

"It's very important to be comfortable," Brooking said. "I wouldn't want to come to a team if I didn't feel comfortable with what they wanted me to do. I feel 100 percent comfortable. I think it's a great fit. I get to run and hit. That is my strength."

QUOTE TO NOTE: "Whoevers team it becomes, you better show up. Because it's going to be time out for blaming other people. You have to go out there and play." -- Linebacker Bradie James on the departure of Terrell Owens and the declaration that this is Tony Romo's team now.
