--The Cowboys will play their first football game in their new stadium on Friday night Aug. 21 against the Tennessee Titans.
Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. (central time), and the game will be televised nationally by FOX.
The Cowboys will open the preseason at the Oakland Raiders on Aug. 13 before coming home to open the new stadium against the Titans.
They will host the San Francisco 49ers on Aug. 29 before concluding the preseason at the Minnesota Vikings on Sept. 4.
No date has been set for the Cowboys' first home regular season game in the new stadium. The NFL has yet to release the 2009 regular season schedule.
But the Cowboys are expected to open the season on the road, possibly at Denver before returning for a prime-time matchup against a yet to be determined opponent.
--The Cowboys will not play the Houston Texans in the preseason or the regular season. Owner Jerry Jones is not happy.
"I am disappointed," Jones said. "I'd like to play them every year. We had kind of thought it was good and think it is good for the league and we should do it every year. We should at least have a preseason game if we're not going to have a regular season game. We've got to schedule better than that. I'm not being critical of anybody."
--The Cowboys officially began their offseason conditioning program on Monday (March 30). Here are some other key dates for the team.
A rookie minicamp is set for May 1-3, just a week after the 2010 NFL Draft (April 25-26).
Organized team activity days are set for May 19-21, 26-28, June 2-4 and 8-10.
A mandatory minicamp will be June 16-18.
The team will vacation before returning for the start of training camp in San Antonio, set for the final week in July. An exact reporting date has not been set.
QUOTE TO NOTE: "Pressure is the pressure you put on the field to be successful and to do well at what your job is. You've got a lot of pressure in your job. ... That's what I'm saying. I don't go around saying it. It's something I've done for 33 years now and I still want to get better at what I'm going. And when I look back I want to say I did all I could do. That's what I want because we went 10-6, 10-6 and 11-5 and we got fired. I went 29-19 at Buffalo and got fired. It's not necessarily what your record is or what you do that determines whether you keep your job or not. It's different in a lot of situations where you work hard and do the right things and keep doing your job. There's undetermined reasons why you don't have your job. What I'm saying is what you have to do is do the best you can, work as hard as you can and don't look back." -- Cowboys coach Wade Phillips.
