Dallas Cowboys Notes, Quotes 2009-04-10
--WR Miles Austin has yet to sign his free-agent tender and visited the Jets on Thursday and Friday. If he signs with the Jets and the Cowboys don't match the contract, the Cowboys will get a second-round pick in return.

The Cowboys have no intentions of letting Austin leave. They have plans for him next year as he is expected to be the downfield threat in the offense in place of Terrell Owens.

Look for Dallas to match any offer if Austin gets one. If he doesn't, the team would still prefer to sign him to a contract extension.

--The Cowboys have their pre-draft visits set for April 15-17. They will also have Dallas visits on April 10, when prospects who are from or went to school in the Fort Worth-Dallas region are allowed to visit.

Among the players to visit: Missouri quarterback Chase Daniel, Rice tight end James Casey, Clemson safety Mike Hamlin, Western Michigan safety Louis Delmas, Texas Tech safety Darcel McBath, Western Illinois linebacker Jason Williams, North Carolina State tight end Anthony Hill, Southern Cal wide receiver Patrick Turner, Richmond outside linebacker Lawrence Sidbury, Fresno State quarterback Tom Brandstater, Iowa cornerback Bradley Fletcher and Oregon cornerback Jairus Byrd.

QUOTE TO NOTE: "I don't know that it's 'Romo friendly.' I think maybe terming it better as quarterback-friendly, whether it's Tony Romo or anybody else. Based on saying, 'Hey, we want to make it Romo friendly takes away from why the decision was made. You know, I do know this: Losing a guy like Terrell Owens, you're losing a pretty talented guy. The decision apparently was made that losing a talented player, there would be addition by subtraction after some of the things that were going on whether they be in the locker room or in the course of a ball game, and some of the distractions. And time will tell. With that decision, no question it puts a lot of the pressure squarely on the shoulders of Tony Romo based on the way that decision was made." -- Troy Aikman on the added pressure put on quarterback Tony Romo following the release of Terrell Owens and Jerry Jones' proclamation that the offense is more "Romo friendly."
