Dallas, Romo carve up the Seahawks
IRVING, Texas - The Dallas Cowboys beat the Seattle Seahawks 34-9 on Thursday, marking Dallas' third win in a row and giving the Cowboys big momentum heading into the final leg of a relay season.

Dallas closes out its regular season with a trip to Pittsburgh, which has the league's top defense, home contests against the defending Super Bowl champion and NFC East-leading New York Giants and the Baltimore Ravens and a road contest against division rival Philadelphia.

"Everyone knows the importance of these last games down the stretch," said Dallas receiver Terrell Owens. "Once we get to the playoffs, it's anyone's game. But we can't jump ahead to the playoffs. We've gotta play one game at a time."

The Cowboys were never in trouble Thursday. Dallas converted 17 first downs on its first 23 plays, and scored on its first four possessions.

Dallas quarterback Tony Romo completed 22 of 34 passes for 331 yards and three scores in the win. It marked the fifth game this year that Romo has thrown for three touchdown passes.

Romo was able to spread the field effectively in the win. Tight end Jason Witten was the team's leading receiver with 9 catches, 115 yards and a touchdown. Owens added 5 catches, 98 yards and a score. Five other Cowboys caught passes.

Dallas receiver Roy Williams said the offense's success is a result of the defense's performance. The Dallas defense sacked Seattle quarterback Matt Hasselbeck seven times and forced three turnovers.

"Tony brings a lot to the table, but I think the offense feeds off our defense," Williams said. "Maybe those roles will reverse later in the year."

Dallas entered the season with high expectations and started off 4-1. But an overtime loss at Arizona and a broken pinkie injury to Romo caused the Cowboys to lose three of their next four games. With Romo back, the offense has improved drastically.

"We hit a rough patch there, and we're not completely out of it," Romo said. "Our confidence level is that on any given Sunday, we can play with anyone."

Romo said he expects that Thursday was the last game he'll need to wear a splint on his finger.

"Three weeks ago, we were looking at a different thing," said Dallas coach Wade Phillips. "But you can see how the climate can change."
