Martellus reveals his big secret Cowboys tight end can rock a rhyme
In last week's edition of the Sure Shot, we teased the identity of the rapper Marty B. He's appeared on Tum Tum's remixed "Girlfriend" and other tracks alongside local rap dignitaries.

Dallas Cowboys tight end Martellus Bennett (right) is indeed the rhymer in question. The first-year player, who caught four touchdowns in his debut season as a Cowboy, is no rookie when it comes to the microphone red zone.

"I've been rapping ever since I can remember" says Bennett, who famously recorded the song "Throw Me the Ball Coach" during his Texas A&M college days.

"I'm not the best rapper alive, but you will hear a lot of hits that you'll like."

He flows with a Southern lean and a hint of East Coast vibe. The catchy lead cut, "Google Me," from Marty B's upcoming Collective Bargaining mix tape, is already being streamed at myspace.com/currency3.

Bennett's foray into rap hasn't been met with all positive reviews. There's been some controversy this week over a YouTube video in which he unleashed a profanity-laden freestyle. But Cowboys fans shouldn't worry too much about Bennett getting distracted by the music or the hoopla surrounding it.

"I'm just doing this for fun," he told us. "Football and the Dallas Cowboys are priority along with God, family and friends."

Hot tracks

- Ty City (left) wants to be known as a lyricist who can walk the line between mainstream and underground styles. The Dallas MC gives you a sample of his goods on the bassline-thick "The Whole DFW," available at myspace.com/tycity.

- Denton hip-hop crew Fab Deuce (right) delivers b-boy flows over boom-bap tracks such as "The Dutch on Me." Listen to that and their smoothly sampled "Dubious Dames" at myspace.com/fabdeuce.

- Mike T hits the clubs with his new single "Make Her Say," featuring K. Ross. Hear it at myspace.com/mikets2s.

- Wreck-A-Mic gets the party going with his new video, "Peep the Way I Strut," featuring Teflon and Magno. Watch it at myspace.com/wreckamic.
