Looks like Tony Romo will just have to keep thinking about a Super Bowl. His U.S. Open dream is over ... for at least another year.
Romo's bid to qualify for next month's U.S. Open ended prematurely Monday when the Cowboys quarterback shot an 80 during sectional qualifying at Dallas National Golf Club, according to the Dallas Morning News.
After opening with an even-par 36 on the front nine in rainy conditions, Romo fell apart on the back side, shooting a 44 that included five bogeys and a triple bogey.
Romo on Tuesday will try to qualify for the HP Byron Nelson Championship, a tournament he has tried — and failed — to qualify for in the past.
This year's U.S. Open will be played from June 18-21 on Black Course at Bethpage State Park in New York.
