EL PASO -- Two days after a late-game loss to Pittsburgh, Stephen Bowen and Anthony Spencer of the Dallas Cowboys answered several questions about the team and its owner from fans on Tuesday at the Three Legged Monkey.
Spencer was this week's guest on KROD-AM (600)'s "1st and Goal," hosted by Bowen and Steve Kaplowitz.
Both players said that despite a strong defensive performance on Sunday, the loss did not sit well with the team.
"I think it's going to linger with me for a while, just because we played so well and didn't get a win," Spencer said during the show.
Even with the loss, the Cowboys currently are in possession of the final NFC playoff spot, and Spencer told the crowd he likes their Super Bowl chances.
"Because we're getting challenged right now, it's going to help us in the playoffs," Spencer said. "And nobody wants to see us in the playoffs."
Several fans asked both players about owner Jerry Jones' recent comments implying that running back Marion Barber could have played through his injury during Sunday's game.
"I think it's just a motivational thing. I don't think it's personal at all," Spencer said while answering the question. "Jerry's the boss, so he can say anything he wants."
Bowen later answered a question about Jones' role during practice, saying, "He doesn't interfere at all."
Tuesday's show marked the fourth time Spencer has visited El Paso. He visited for2001, 2002 and 2004 Sun Bowls while playing for Purdue.
"The first one, we had a lot of good players that taught me so much," Spencer said. "We went out to Cattleman's ranch and had a good time."
