
Cowboys release receiver Owens
DALLAS -- The Dallas Cowboys released wide receiver Terrell Owens on Wednesday night, according to a source. Owens was informed of the decision by team officials, who said the team had decided to go in a different direction.
During the past few weeks, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones was asked about the status of Owens by reporters.
Jones refused to say whether Owens would get cut, but hinted two weeks ago he might keep the receiver.
The Cowboys will take roughly a $9 million cap hit with the release of Owens.
Players honored: Bethel Christian's Aisha Russell, Lauren Pinson and Desarae Hershal were named to the TCAF All-State team Wednesday. The three seniors led Bethel to their best finish with a 19-4 record.
The team made it to the state championship, where they lost to Midland Trinity, 46-43.
UTEP softball loses: The 11th-ranked Arizona Wildcats softball team won both ends of a doubleheader, defeating UTEP 20-1 and 5-2 on Wednesday at Hillenbrand Stadium in Tucson.
